FAQs
How are your products different than what I can buy at my local retailer?
There is the old saying, “you get what you pay for”. What makes my products stand above typical store bought products? You will not find heavily processed ingredients, harmful additives, and ingredients that you can’t pronounce. I mix my products in small batches, with every ingredient precisely weighed to ensure the best quality outcome.
Are your products organic and cruelty free?
Many of my ingredients are certified organic, although because not all of them are, I do not post organic claims. I am certified with Leaping Bunny as a cruelty free company.
Why do some of your colors or patterns vary within the same scent of soap?
Soaping is truly an art. My soap is made in small batches so that I can obtain the best possible outcome, this means colors and patterns may vary slightly.
How are natural products better?
Many of today’s products, from cosmetics to grocery items, are processed in mass quantities with the best, most beneficial byproducts removed. This rings true for soap and my other products as well. My handcrafted soap does not have the glycerin stripped out; instead, it remains as a natural moisturizing ingredient. My carefully crafted bars also contain ingredients like coconut oil, olive oil, and shea butter—elements you know and recognize are good to your body.
What if I have an issue with my purchase?
I truly want you to be happy and satisfied with your product(s). I will do my best to remedy each situation. If you received an incorrect or defective item, you must contact me with in 5 days of receipt. A general dislike for a scent or change of mind does not qualify for a return as items cannot be resold. In any case, please feel free to contact me so we can come to a resolution suitable for both of us.
Can I order specialty soaps for a party or shower?
I love this question! I can create any color combination, custom labels, and/or a scent of your choice. It’s important to note that soap needs to cure for 4 weeks prior to use, so keep that in mind if you have an upcoming event and would like to place an order.
Is your soap made with lye?
That is a complex question given the chemical process that takes place. Initially lye is added, however, the chemical process of saponification between the lye and oils, what remains is soap. Please contact me if you would like further explanation about the “kitchen chemist” process!
Can I pick up products from you if I am local?
You can absolutely pick up your products in Carver, MN. If you are somewhat close, I can potentially set up a meeting location with you. If you choose to order and pick up, I can take payment at the time or you can prepay. Just give me a call or send me an email!
I don’t recognize some ingredients in your products, can you explain what they are?
Sodium Lactate is essentially liquid salt, and it aids in hardening bar soap. It is derived from the natural fermentation of sugars found in corn and beets, and is the sodium salt of lactic acid, naturally occurring as a liquid product.
Titanium Dioxide is a whitening colorant used in cold process soap and often used in sunscreen.
Mica is a colorant; I use a synthetic version that is not harvested in 3rd world countries.
SLSA or Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate is a surfactant that is derived 100% naturally. It comes from coconut oil and palm oil. It is also completely free of all sulfates. A surfactant is a surface acting agent, which means that it causes products to fizz and foam.
